50 cows
The case
For Gurveer Dhanoa and his family in Moga, Punjab, dairy farming was not just a livelihood—it was a constant balancing act of managing livestock, resources, and rising costs. The sheer volume of waste from his 35 cows and the high costs of electricity, LPG, and chemical fertilizers created significant financial strain. The methane emissions from cattle waste were also a growing environmental concern. Despite his hard work and dedication, Gurveer found himself overwhelmed by these challenges.
The solution
In 2023, Gurveer learned about Sistema.bio’s modern biogas technology. Seeing the potential to convert his farm’s waste into a valuable resource, he decided to install a Sistema 120 biogas plant.
The impact was immediate. The biogas system completely replaced the need for LPG, saving Gurveer around ₹30,000–₹35,000 annually on cooking gas. Furthermore, the biofertilizer produced by the biogas plant allowed Gurveer to cut his fertilizer costs by 50%, saving him approximately ₹20,000–₹25,000 annually. In addition, he was able to sell surplus biofertilizer, earning an extra ₹5,000 per month.
Sistema.bio results
With these significant savings, Gurveer was able to expand his farm operations. He increased his herd size to 50 cows and doubled his milk production from 300 liters to 600 liters per day. The improved soil quality, enriched by the use of biofertilizer, led to healthier cattle, better milk quality, and increased crop yields. To meet his farm’s growing energy needs, Gurveer upgraded his electricity generator from 5KVA to 15KVA. He also purchased a 600-liter tanker to transport biofertilizer for sale, creating an additional income stream.
Today, Gurveer’s farm stands as a shining example of how sustainable solutions, like biogas, can turn challenges into opportunities, enhancing both his farm’s productivity and his family’s future.
