ALEC Ethiopia 2025 made one thing clear: Ethiopia is entering a decisive stage in transforming its livestock sector. Over three days, producers, development organizations, technology companies, and agricultural leaders met to exchange knowledge and accelerate climate-smart growth. As the country with the largest cattle population in Africa, over 70 million head, according to the World Bank, Ethiopia is a natural focal point for livestock innovation and sustainable technology adoption.
ALEC (African Livestock Exhibition and Congress) is one of the continent’s most influential platforms for advancing livestock systems. The event brings together experts in dairy, animal health, feed innovation, genetics, digital agriculture, and agricultural finance. Its role as a driver of practical, scalable solutions makes it a key space for building a more resilient and productive livestock economy. This aligns directly with the goals highlighted at ALEC Ethiopia 2025 livestock innovation discussions.
For Sistema.bio, the event reinforced a core truth: real impact happens when smart technology and regenerative agriculture meet local expertise and shared purpose.
We joined partners like SNV, whose ongoing work has strengthened our position with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ethiopia, along with HelloSolar Ethiopia and Solar Village Ethiopia to advance conversations on biogas adoption, farmer training, renewable energy access, and green finance models for livestock producers. These alliances are essential to accelerate livestock innovation in Ethiopia, especially in regions where energy access and waste-to-value solutions can transform farm productivity.
Our work is grounded in a clear mission: Working with farmers to improve life on Earth. Through biodigesters, families and farmers turn manure into clean energy and biofertilizer, reduce methane emissions, lower fuel and fertilizer costs, and strengthen both soil health and farm resilience.
Participation in ALEC supports this by helping us:
- Understand farmer needs directly
- Build alliances to scale climate-smart agriculture
- Expand access to financing for sustainable technology
- Share proven results from programs across Africa and beyond
- Unlock new partnership opportunities
Looking Forward
The momentum in Ethiopia’s livestock sector is real. ALEC Ethiopia 2025 showcased collaborative energy, strong farmer leadership, and a clear regional commitment to climate-smart, future-ready growth.
At Sistema.bio, we’re proud to contribute to this progress. With access to technology and knowledge, farmers are driving productivity, resilience, and climate action, shaping the future of livestock systems in Ethiopia and beyond.
