Sistema.bio has reached a landmark achievement with the first issuance of carbon credits under its specialized financing vehicle, FarmCarbon. This historic milestone, which supports smallholder farmers in Kenya and pertains specifically to the GS12078 – Kenya II VPA project, marks the operationalization of FarmCarbon’s trading capabilities. By generating these premium credits, the initiative directly supports Kenyan farmers by enabling them to transform methane-emitting animal waste into clean, renewable biogas, while channeling global capital to improve agricultural livelihoods at scale.
Notably, this issuance is the first under the FarmCarbon vehicle to carry the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label from the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM). It also stands as one of the very first Gold Standard issuances globally under the updated “Animal Manure Management and Biogas Use for Thermal Energy Generation” methodology to receive this distinction. The CCP label serves as a definitive market signal of integrity and quality, verifying that the climate impact generated is real, verifiable, and adheres to the latest scientific standards and rigorous third-party auditing.
Beyond its market significance, this issuance represents a major strategic leap forward as the first carbon project developed entirely by Sistema.bio’s internal, in-house capacity.
