SUBSISTENCE AND SMALL FARMERS – DOMESTIC USE
Farmer of the PESA FAO program
María and her family feed their 6m3 biodigester with their sheep’s manure, they do not buy LP gas anymore and produce their own biol. They plan to apply the biol on the recently planted peach trees to be able to sell the fruit.
Biogas, biol, family and food security
Mrs Lorena and her children own a 6m3 Biobolsa, which allows them to reduce the LP gas consumption by producing enough biogas for a 6 member family. Lorena uses her savings for her children’s education and well-being.
Biogas to produce cheese
Ramón owns a 10 m3 Biobolsa in which he inputs his cows’ manure. He uses the biogas in his production process to elaborate cheese and other dairy products he then sells in his family’s little shop.
“Biodigester, A wonder!” – State of Mexico
With the manure of 30 heads of cattle, Doroteo feeds a Biobolsa System of 16 m3 which was acquired as part of the “Integra” program of INAES.
MEDIUM-SIZED FAMERS – Productive use
Biodigester for slaughterhouse – Morelos
Located in the State of Morelos, this slaughterhouse has invested in a multiple reactor system to treat 120 m3 of manure in liquid phase. The biogas is used to provide the slaughterhouse’s boiler with biogas.
Biodigester to produce electricity – Oaxaca
The Tarasco farm in Oaxaca operates with a 40 m3 biodigester since 2013; it produces the equivalent of 116kg of LP gas per month. The biogas is transformed into electricity used for the milking machines, thereby significantly reducing operating costs.
Dairy farmer producing electricity – Tabasco
Dairy farm in Tabasco, where 100% of the milking machines work with biogas-adapted motors.
Milking with biogas motors – Chiapas
PROGRAM-SPECIFIC PROJECTS IN MICROREGIONS
Biodigester program in Yucatán
This program focuses on health improvements in indigenous Mayan families. By installed biodigesters, they have the opportunity to displace wood and develop knowledge on appropriate animal waste management.
Coffee producers in Honduras
Program developed together with the Honduras Coffee Association in order to treat mead and cow manure. Biogas is used at the domestic level and the biol is applied on coffee plantations and pasture.
SEMADET JALISCO
Methane collection program for small- and medium-sized hog farmers in southern and south-eastern Jalisco, aiming at providing an active response to mitigate their environmental impact.
INVERBIO – Promotion of bioenergy – Veracruz
DRAGON OF THE NEW FLAME
“The legend of the Dragon of the new flame”
This is a program that promotes biodigesters among small and medium farmers. We also provide bonding activities for the entire community, and education workshops for sustainability in primary and preschool schools through art and empathy.
