Sistema.bio Successfully Pilots in Ethiopia

This past quarter, Sistema.bio concluded a pilot program in Ethiopia, introducing biodigesters across key and highly populous regions, including Oromia, SNNPR (Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region), and Sidama.

Through this initiative, 112 biodigesters and accompanying appliances, such as biogas stoves, burners, water heaters, and forage choppers, were successfully installed. The project focused on extensively training users in the operation and maintenance of these biodigesters, providing comprehensive manuals, conducting service visits, and offering warranties for up to 10 years on the reactors and one year on the appliances.

Sistema.bio also conducted technical and economic feasibility studies in partnership with Chercher Farmers Union and Misale Agro Industry, exploring the viability of large-scale biogas plants to power productive appliances. The positive outcomes have led to proposals and quotations for implementation, contributing to the transition towards renewable energy in the region.

The project’s impact goes beyond installations; it has empowered local biogas champions, benefited communities with clean cooking and renewable energy, and introduced modern biogas technology to stakeholders. The success of this venture has revealed Ethiopia’s promising potential as a market, propelling Sistema.bio’s commitment to establishing a sustainable business and reducing global greenhouse gas emissions.

Sistema.bio and Lanforce Energy Team Up to Foster Clean Cooking in Zimbabwe

Sistema.bio proudly announces its partnership with Lanforce Energy, a leading entity in Zimbabwe’s renewable energy sector, committed to introducing biodigester technology and uplifting smallholder farmers countrywide.

Based in Harare, Lanforce Energy specializes in versatile biogas digesters, aligning with its mission to promote sustainable energy access since its establishment in 2010 and full operational launch in 2018.
The collaborative efforts between Sistema.bio and Lanforce Energy, initiated in 2021, have led to successful biodigester installations across Zimbabwe. Sistema.bio supports Lanforce Energy’s expansion endeavors by jointly pursuing tenders and grants.

In a milestone achievement, Lanforce Energy partnered with the Modern Cooking Facility for Africa (MCFA) and UNHCR to drive clean energy solutions. The MCFA Project, launched on December 6, 2023, targets installing 2,500 biogas digesters and 6,131 cookstoves over four years, supported by the Modern Clean Cooking Facility for Africa.
Their joint initiative with UNHCR focuses on sustainable systems for Tongogara Refugee Camp, including a Sistema 160 biodigester; piping biogas to camp households, each equipped with a Sistema.bio cookstove.
Sistema.bio’s role extends to funding partnerships and capacity-building support, while Lanforce Energy oversees implementation.

Sistema.bio Clocks One Year In Uganda

A year ago in October, Sistema.bio began its impactful journey in Uganda, venturing into the picturesque landscapes of the Pearl of Africa. The year-long expedition has been marked by growth, impact, and unwavering dedication.

Huge Achievement for Sistema.bio LATAM: Sustainable energy project concludes in the Yucatán Peninsula

Sistema.bio LATAM concludes 2023 with a historic milestone: the installation of 1,500 biodigesters in the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico, thanks to the collaboration between IRRI, W. K. Kellogg Foundation, Sistema.bio, and local communities.

The Sustainable Sanitation, Energy, and Food Security Project (2021-2023) culminates with results that fill us with pride. After three years of implementation, 7,800 people from Mayan communities now have a source of clean and renewable energy, smoke-free kitchens, improved respiratory health, and cleaner farms. Moreover, we’ve used biofertilizer to fertilize 20,000 hectares of land, encouraging sustainable farming and aiding in soil recovery.

In addition to promoting the circular economy, this initiative will prevent the emission of 9,000 tons of CO2eq each year, thanks to Sistema.bio’s technology and the commitment of the entire team that worked on this project.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this great step!
